Treatment from 2026-01-15
Kurtuluş is still living with me. I'm looking for a home for him but can't find one. His teeth are in bad shape, but we can't take him to the dentist because he's undergoing treatment again due to his nasal structure and breathing problems. This also prevents him from receiving anesthesia. There was a suspicion of FIP, but his albumin-globumin ratio increased from 0.4 to 0.6 before and after antibiotics. The probability of FIP has been halved, but he's waiting for treatment for his teeth.

Treatment from 2025-11-22
Kurtuluş was discharged from the clinic around October 28th. He is currently experiencing breathing difficulties again due to the structure of his nose. I'm administering Ronkodol (Salbutamol) and flixotide (fluticasone) with a nebulizer at home, but he's experiencing some problems because he can't receive treatment for his teeth. Unfortunately, I can't take him for dental treatment right now because I still haven't paid off the debt from two previous treatments.

On Monday, October 20th, I took him back to the vet, because he was drooling (likely because of his teeth) and seemed to have trouble breathing. The breathing problems are of course amplified due to his breed. His treatment was started, but currently still continues in the clinic.

He was discharged from the clinic after 10 days of treatment. His condition was better, he was eating food and drinking water, but he was also sneezing 6-7 times a day. I told the vet about is and they said it was due to the nose. They also recommended dental surgery in the future, once he had settled down.

He was found and brought to the shelter in the night of September 27. I took him from the shelter and transferred him to Patilogy veterinary clinic on September 28. When he arrived, his fever was 40 degrees Celsius and he was unable to walk due to swelling in his paw. X-rays were taken and his temperature was checked.Blood was drawn. Parasites were seen in his feces. Fortunately the vet gave a discound from 16.100tl to 12.000 tl

When I saw his photo, I couldn't resist. I took him home so he could find a home, but he had many illnesses when he arrived. I named him after the shelter where he came from. I hope I can write his rescue story. He's so neglected that I think he was being used for breeding purposes. When my brother picked him up, he wasn't told about any health issues, so we are not sure whether he was even checked by a veterinarian at the shelter upon being taken in. They typically don't like to take in breed cats due to their health problems.

My name is Birben. I live in Ankara and have been trying to rescue and treat stray cats since 2014. Except for Oreo and Macaron, all my cats at home are spayed or neutered. I also try to treat and spay or neuter stray cats as much as I can. I feed cats in three different locations in my neighborhood. There are a total of 20-25 cats. I've tried to find homes for the healthy ones, but it's very difficult, or perhaps due to the situation in Türkiye, I don't give them away unless I'm completely sure. Many people in my neighborhood either inform me or leave sick or healthy cats in my garden. Therefore, including the stray cats and the care at home, we consume an average of 78 kg of cat food and 30 cans of cat litter per month. And I owe a total of 9000 euros to two veterinary clinics. The hardest part is the accumulated debt I can't pay and the fact that I can't reduce the amount of food I consume daily (2 kg) because I haven't been able to find homes for them. These two things are interconnected. Because my veterinary debt is so high, it's very difficult to cover the food costs. Because so much food and litter is consumed, I can only afford to pay very little to the clinic. I'm only trying to get support through Instagram, but I'm not getting as much support as before.
