Treatment from 2025-10-22
In October his condition worsened again. Since treatment at home had not worked long term, I thought it would be better for him to stay at the clinic. I wanted to take precautions early, before his mouth got worse. He was treated in the clinic from October 9th until October 15th. When he was discharged, he was eating again and there was no drooling. He definitely looked better.
Medication ₺ 4,200.00 (85.18 €) Batman recieved serum, vitamins, other iv supplements, and antibiotics.
Hospital Stay ₺ 4,900.00 (99.37 €) He was treated at the clinic for 7 days.

For a while after the cortisone treatment in august, we managed at home with wet food and supplements again. At the end of september, he was having difficulty eating, and excessive mouth drooling again. He was taken to the vet. They took blood and prescribed treatment again with cortisone and Novasef (antibiotic, chosen according to the antibiogram that had been done last year), as well as immune boosters, liver and kidney supplements and pureed food, which I gave him at home.
Tests/ Imaging ₺ 2,500.00 (50.70 €) Haemogram and biochemistry (haemogram attatched) The infection levels are elevated.

We have managed his condition at home with special soft food and supplements since march, but the mouth sores have become unbearable, so I took him back to the clinic. Over the years, his issues had been treated with Augmentin, Clindamycin, Novacef, Synulox and Veraflox. A different antibiotic was used for each treatment. Biochemistry, haemogram and and an antibiogram were done. His liver values were elevated. The veterinarian gave cortisone to reduce inflammation and we were able to continue treatment at home with wet food, chicken, boiled liver as well as liver and kidney supplements.
Tests/ Imaging ₺ 0.00 (0.00 €) Biochemistry and haemogram were done in august (cost already included in the estimate from march). An antibiogramm had been done in 2024 and antibiotics were changed accordingly, but since the issues recurred, he should have a new antibiogram again. This could not be done because of the high cost (around 3.000 - 4.000 tl) (attached is the biochemistry from august)

Medication ₺ 5,600.00 (113.57 €) Cortisone was given to help reduce inflammation. (this cost 100 tl). The cost of the supplements was around 5.500tl. (attached is the haemogram from august)

Diagnosis
Infection ✅ Confirmed
Dental Disease ✅ Confirmed
When I found Batman as a kitten, he had a severe oral infection. He received treatment, and nearly all of his teeth were extracted. He has been undergoing treatment for four years, but despite temporary improvements, the disease keeps recurring.

At the beginning of 2025, he was suffering from severe jaundice, anemia, and worsening kidney values. Since he hasn’t fully recovered despite countless treatments over the past four years, we need more advanced diagnostics, including a biopsy, a detailed PCR panel, and an antibiogram. In addition, regular blood tests such as hemogram and biochemistry are being conducted.

Whenever his condition flares up again, we are heartbroken—Batman is in so much pain that he screams while trying to eat. We truly hope we can heal him together…
I am Hatime. I used to work in the pharmaceutical industry, but have now opened a cat sanctuary for (former) stray cats housing over 130 cats (as well as 6 dogs and 1 goose currently).
I rescued the first cat when I was just 7 years old and now I take care of the strays in Bursa. Many of the cats that we care for also still recieve treatments. The cats that have completed treatment and are neutered live in the biggest group at our sanctuary, where they can seek refuge in the downstairs cat play room or roam the secure garden. There is a lot of cost associated with caring for so many animals, so I hope to find supporters that want to help us make life better for the strays here.
