Update (27.05.2025):Süslü is currently doing well and has not developed any complications. She continues to stay at the care farm but €25 needs to be paid each month. Unfortunately we cannot receive support for monthly sponsorship. I have many cats there so I cannot pay for it all myself.

Update: Süslü’s diaphragm was torn as a result of the kick. She was taken into surgery and her diaphragm was stitched. During the surgery, they noticed a mass in her lungs and since the cat was not in good condition at that moment, they completed the surgery immediately. She was treated at the vet for a while longer. She was preparing for cancer surgery when I presented an option that came to my mind to the vet. My thought was that in some diaphragm tears, tumor-like structures can form in the damaged organ; broken bones, edema, etc. I asked them to consider the possibility of confusing the tumor with something else and further examinations, tests and analyses were carried out on this idea. And indeed, it was true. Süslü did not have cancer and what was seen was actually a tiny broken bone. The vets were also surprised by this situation but in the end we were all happy. Süslü is currently still staying at the care farm. I paid for the tests but there is now a debt of 55 euros. After paying this debt, only a sponsorship fee of €25 per month is required for the cat to continue living there safely.

One day I found Suslu on the ground in my feeding area, struggling to breathe and in shock. I immediately took him to the vet. Unfortunately, her diaphragm was ruptured, presumably after a person kicked her. She was going through a very risky process, thank God we were able to have diaphragm surgery, but during the surgery, doctors detected a large tumor in her lung. They had to end the surgery immediately because her blood count was low. It was later determined, that the tumor-like growth that they found, was likely a result of the ruptured diaphragm. There were more tests carried out, but as it seems, no further treatment is needed.
